I was on a webinar recently regarding affiliate marketing, and at one point the presenter quickly went over a ‘4 P Plan’ – a kind of guide to help you work through the affiliate marketing process.

While this isn’t anything new, I found the concise way it was presented struck a chord with me, it made sense, and it made the process simple, so I wanted to share the concept with you.

If you can answer the 4 P-questions listed below, you are on the right track.

People: Who is your target market?

The audience

It is important to know the type of person you are targetting, and to understand a little bit about them.

Why is this important?  Knowing who your audience is allows you to customize the entire sales process, everything from crafting your give-away, your email campaign, the type of product you offer, where you place your ads.

Knowing your target gives you an edge – instead of just having a killer product to promote generically, you can target the specific type of person who needs and wants that product.

Problem: What problem are these people trying to solve?

(169/365) Urrghh....

Once you know a little bit about the target market, you will be able to identify the specific problems and pain points these people are looking to solve.

Finding, or creating, a product that solves the specific needs of a specific group of people is the crux of successful affiliate marketing and information product marketing.

Promise: What promise are you making ;  How will your product solve their problem?

Promise?

You have a target market, and you have a product that can help them – really, honestly help them.  The next step is to connect the two together, and that takes a little more than just putting the solution in front of the problem.

Your promise needs to be compelling, you need to demonstrate the value and benefits the buyer will get from your product.  Don’t hype it up, you still have to deliver on whatever your promise is, and as ethical internet marketers we strive to offer more value to the customer than the cost of the product.

Profits: How will you make money from this process?

Money 2No matter how giving you are, how charitable you are, or how altruistic you are, it’s likely you are in Internet Marketing to earn a living, and make some money.

Not everything you do will bring back money, and you will be giving away far more value than you get paid for, but at the end of the day you need a marketing strategy that gets you paid.

Your efforts need to include some monetization strategies.
